Description
From the trailhead, the Alcove Spring Trail starts descending immediately. There are excellent views here. Soon the trail starts descending more steeply on slick rock and dirt. Next, the huge alcove comes into view. The trail continues to descend all the way to the impressive alcove. For additional angles of the alcove, hike down the switchback to an eroded section of the trail. This is a good turn-around point if you don't mind more climbing on the way back, otherwise most hikers can just stop at the alcove itself.
